Do you ever change your clothes with the seasons? Did you know that you should do this also with your skin care routine? As the seasons change from summer to fall, there are some changes you should make in your skin care routine. Here are our favorite tips:
- Change your humectant. As the weather changes from sultry to warm to dry and cold, your skin may need more moisture. Autumn is a good time to prepare your skin for a hard winter and to switch to a thicker and stronger moisturizer. This is especially useful if you only used a serum in the summer or if you did not moisturize a lot because you have oily skin.
- Begin to exfoliate more often. You can think of exfoliation as a way to scrub your way to summer skin, but the exfoliation is very useful for treating scaly and dry skin. Get a gentle exfoliator for your face and try a body scrub for your rough spots, such as your elbows and feet. Try to exfoliate completely once or twice a week.
- Take the time to personalize your skin care routine. If you are not sure, consult a dermatologist who can review your specific skin needs based on your age, skin type and the climate in which you live. This can help you find specific products that work best for your skin and climate.
- Have fun! While buying new products, look for new products and fun autumn aromas. You are more likely to adhere to a skin care routine if you love the products you are using and the smell excites you to put them on. Be sure to try new products and scents on your skin before using your entire face in case you are allergic.
