Most people estimate that 8 cups of water per day are best for optimum health (and lighter skin).
In fact, most of us drink much less than this.
However, we all know that they are very different when it comes to body composition and dietary needs.
So how much water do you really need?
If you want to know how much water you should drink, follow this formula:
Step 1: Calculate the weight in kg
Step 2: divide the weight by 30
The number you get is the amount of water you should drink in liters.
Ex. 54 kg / 30 = 1.8 l
If you are an active person (especially one who sweats a lot during your workout) you will want to add more water to the original number. The same if it’s just hot outside.
About 350 ml for 30 minutes of exercise is enough.
Remember to also replenish minerals and electrolytes like potassium and sodium to maintain proper balance inside the body.
Avoid drinking water from plastic bottles. The plastic contains xenoestrogens (false estrogens) that seep into the water and can alter the hormones.
If you are dominant in estrogen or experience symptoms of PMS, especially you want to avoid plastic.
Glass is the best!
There is water in food too …
Keep in mind that there is some water in the fruits and vegetables you are eating, so you do not necessarily have to swallow mugs and cups of pure water.
I also count herbal tea as cups of water, but drinks like juice and coffee can be dehydrated, so keep that in mind.
You can use foods to flavor your water if you are not a fan of natural flavor. Some delicious to try:
Strawberry and lime
Cranberry and mint
Raspberry and Lemon
Add your favorites and create your own combo.
Healthy skin, healthy colon
Our cells are made of lots of water so if they become dehydrated, they will show on the skin through dryness, opacity and aging.
Water also hydrates your colon, which is necessary to maintain loss of movement through the intestines and is eliminated.
If your bowels are dehydrated, then you are more likely to become constipated, which means that the waste will sit and the toxins will have the opportunity to reabsorb in the body.
Again, if you have a problem with the estrogen domain, you want to keep your bowels moving so that estrogen does not reabsorb and can not get into your skin.
Go and have a cup of water now!
That’s one for today.
Then, over the next week, check if you can jot down how many cups you have per day so you can really see how much you’re getting (instead of just guessing).
If you aim to drink a cup of water every hour or so, it is easier to achieve your goal.
